Xenobia Bailey Art Exhibit

This last first Thursday, Sarah and I went to the Northwest African American Museum to view the newest exhibit on show, Xenobia Bailey's Aesthetic of Funk. Bailey is a Seattle Native who moved to New York in the 70s and has recently moved backed home. This exhibit, made entirely from crocheted pieces is absolutely stunning to see in person. The pieces are huge in size and stunningly colorful. The yellow backdrop of the walls makes the whole exhibit pop perfectly. The highlight of the exhibit is a magnificent three dimension alter that towers over the viewer.

The exhibit is on display through May 6, so make sure to check it out. Make sure to check out the artist's personal blog for more information. Bailey's blog can be found at http://xenba.blogspot.com/.
